About Us

  • Philosophy

Learning and life should be fun, dynamic, messy, explorative, self-led, and hands-on. Yet all too often that is the exact opposite of what children get to experience. That is why I believe in exploring and understanding the world through project-based and hands-on learning.

  • Sawyer Mickle

While completing my student teaching and receiving my degree in elementary education, I spent my summers working at a very special place that remains near and dear to my heart, Shoofly Farm (a magical summer camp). This experience helped shape who I am today and allowed me to hone my leadership skills as the Camp Director’s Assistant.

Upon graduating, I longed for adventure and took a job teaching English in Vietnam. While my time there was incredible (I was even promoted to branch manager), I eventually returned to my favorite place and home base, Washington State, to teach in public schools.

My return home happened to coincide with the pandemic so I pivoted to alternative career options and became a private pod school teacher. This unique teaching “pod” experience was similar to running a small school independently. It was also the inspiration I needed to finally make my dream come true, Camp Mud Creek!

  • Camp

Located on 4 gorgeous acres near Snoqualmie Falls, Camp Mud Creek provides a safe space for children to explore and reconnect with the natural world. The program is designed to provide campers with opportunities to gain confidence and build independence skills. While each week's schedule is filled with many options, campers get to choose what they want to do. Some favorites include fishing in the pond, building, and racing boats down the creek, finding adventure in the forest, harvesting honey from the beehives, and collecting eggs from the chickens. While there, they are sure to have phenomenal fun and discover something new.

I am positive your camper will love this place and so will you!
